Jim is responsible for serving and advising individuals and their families, business owners, executives, foundations, and endowments. He works with clients and their advisors to develop financing, investing, and planning strategies utilizing Washington Trust’s comprehensive suite of services, including wealth management, cash management, and lending services.

Jim joins the Bank with 35 years of commercial bank and financial services experience. He started his career in Providence at Fleet National Bank and transitioned to Fleet’s Boston office after their acquisition of Bank of New England, where he specialized in commercial real estate lending and real estate work out. In 1993, Jim joined the fledgling east coast operation of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) as their thirteenth employee. During his 24-year career at SVB, he served as commercial lending officer, team leader, managing director of SVB Strategic Investors Fund, and Region Manager for SVB Financial Group. SVB grew to more than 175 employees in the eastern division and 1000 worldwide, becoming the premier financial services partner to growth companies, entrepreneurs, company leaders, and their investors. Most recently, Jim was founder and partner at Napatree Capital, a boutique investment advisory firm serving individuals, families, non-profit foundations, and professional services companies.
Jim received his B.A. from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
Jim currently serves on the board of directors of the Ocean Community YMCA and L&M Westerly Hospital, and is a past director and current advisor to the Slater Technology Fund. A resident of Westerly, R.I., he enjoys spending time with his family, attending Boston College football games with his older son and watching his younger son play baseball.
